For some programs it seems they are at a different resolution...I can't see
all the info. For example the OK or CANCEL button because the windows are
wrongly sized. I have tried going from a bigger resolution to a smaller
resolutiong but it still stays the same. How can I fix this??

Go to your video card mfr's website, and download the latest
supported/released XP driver for your video card, and install it in device
manager - then reboot. See if this fixes the problems.
