Hi-
I have a 200GB harddrive that I would like to make my boot drive, with
one big 200GB partition. The problem is that I can't set up windows with 48
bit LBA enabled. right now, i'm booting a floppy to an installation on my
2nd hard disk- I have sp1, a promise 133TX2 controller that supports 48 bit
LBA, the updated atapi.sys that mycrowsoft says i need, the WHQL'd ultra.sys
for the controller that also supports 48 bit LBA, plus the EnableBigLba
entry set to 1, but still disk manager only sees 128GB of the drive.

If I use maxblast to create a 200GB partition ahead of installing windows
and do the update, everything seems to be working but eventually I'll start
getting MFT errors, and if I run chkdsk on the drive I get the error that
the second MFT is unwritable. If I boot up the cd and load the driver using
F6, maxtor, promise, and the ms kb all say that I should see the full 200 of
the drive, but I don't, and setup won't create partitions on any of the
disks - if i do say create one, it does, but shows the type as "RAW" and
then tells me that it can't load windows until i delete that partition and
create another one thats ntfs, but it refuses to do that.

If I install windows with the 80GB as drive 0 and the 200GB as drive 1, I
can add the drive as a second drive after getting xp to sp1, but the whole
idea was to get rid of the 80GB and have just the 200GB.

i bought xp pro early on in the game, i'm starting to regret it just like i
did when i was stuck with my windows '98 when everything required windows
'98SE. Is anybody having any luck doing this with xp and promise
controllers and drivers?

Hi-
As I stated in my first message, I've already done all that - I do have
the updated atapi.sys
