Can't save to name of OPEN file...?

Howdy,

Several times in sequence I got a FP error that confuses me...

I modified a page, and then used Save As to use that page as a
replacement for another, that is, to save the modified page using the
name of a different page that already exited.

The error tells me that I cannot save to a name of a page that is
already open.

The first few times that I got the error, I just assumed that I had
neglected to close the former page. But, when I checked, I discovered
that the page with the name that I wanted to use was not open at all
though FP "thought" that it was.

This is a modest inconvenience, but I would like to eliminate the
problem.

Thanks for any help,

I was. I have noticed a similar problem in my fp 2003 and from what I've
seen others say is that it's known about but no immediate fix.

Hi Chris,

Very sincere thanks. With the information you offered, I will shift
from "problem solving mode" to "prayer mode."<g>

In the meantime, you could first delete the original file with the name.

Hi Wally,

Yes, thanks...

I knew that and described the problem as an inconvenience that had me
perplexed.

That makes me feel really weird about responding to this post....I'm good,
but I'm no diety.

I believe what you are seeing is a known issue with the clipboard. This is
a stab in the dark, because I don't have your full repro steps, but if you
copied something from the open page to the clipboard (CTRL + C, or EDIT >
COPY), then closed the page, then opened the new page and tried to SAVE AS
over the page from which you copied text, you will get this error.

You need to clear the clipboard.

Thanks!
