Eeyore is on the right track here.
It could be a filetype issue or it could be a complexity issue.
Filetype issue is more likely since with a complexity issue what usually
happens is that it tries to save but the time just keeps going up and in
your case it is giving an error message.
Take a look at the types of files you are using.
Movie Maker doesn't work well with MP3, MPG, and reportedly JPG files.
Convert these
MP3 to WAV or WMA
MPG to AVI
JPG to BMP
