Can't save mp3

Got a new PC on Wednesday. Downloaded a few music mp3s
with Media Player and saved them with no problems.
Attempted to install Nero 5.5 yesterday but encountered
problems afterwards (windows wouldn't load up). Anyway,
uninstalled all things Nero. But now when I download a
mp3 in Media Player,I click on the "Save As" option and
input my file name as, for example, newsong.mp3, and
click on save. But it doesn't save anywhere. Even when I
do a Search it's not there.

Any ideas anyone?
