Can't save GIF or JPEG after Update

Just updated the computer with KB810217 and KB824145 and now I find that I
can only save images in the Bitmap format when I right click them.
This is getting annoying as I'm now totally fed up with having to go to
lengthy processes to first manually name the file as a Bitmap and then have
to go into an imaging program to convert it back into it's original Gif of
Jpeg format.
To me this isn't security but insanity as I've now read that the update
can't be reversed. I'm not in the least impressed with the updates. Well
done Microsoft for trashing my system!
Is there any way that I can now manually configure the computer so that I
can once again right click on the image, choose the Save Picture As option
and be able to save it in the correct format and filename automatically as I
did before the so called updates?

Stephen

Internet Explorer 6 not saving gif as gifs but as bmp

Clear the temporary internet folder.

That happens when the Temporary Internet Files are too full. In IE click
Tools | Internet Options. Click Delete Files in the Temporary Internet
files section of the General tab. On the nest window place a check mark in
the box to Delete all offline content.

Thanks to both of you for the very simple solution to the problem and it
worked a treat. It was obviously a coincidence that it occurred immediately
after installing the updates.
Most things have a very simple solution when you know how.
Thanks again.
