I have edited my movie and since I find I can't save to a CD without a
college degree in DV technology, I tried saving to a new mini-tape in my
camera. I got the following message: "! Your complete movie was not recorded
successfully to tape. The DV device is not responding. Unplug it again..."
Is it possible that my DV camera (Canon ZR45) isn't capable of receiving DV
input?

Are you certain that your camera is capable of DV-IN Some of the Canon range
are not and I notice your model number does not contain the teltale letter I at
the end.

It is said that MS are going to add some DVD burning abilities but to be quite
honest there are so many very good programs "out there" already it would be
something of a battle.

Well, in order to save them to a conventional recordable 80-minute CD to view
them on TV (I assume with a DVD player?) you'd need to burn them as a Video
CD or Super Video CD (VCD or SVCD). Most DVD players support that format of
video. However, you'll need some software to do that. Microsoft doesn't
support SVCD burned standard in Windows XP. A cheap version of Roxio or Nero
should do the trick once you save the movie to an AVI format on your hard
drive, assuming you have a CD burner.

As for your DV burner, I've tried moving an edited movie back to the camera,
I've done that before, but I wasn't pleased with the quality.

No degree required Cal. Just ask the right questions in the right places
(as you did) and the answers will floweth from the font of knowledge that is
the internet. IT isn't the giant behemoth of intimidation that you may think
it is.
