I have created a project and am trying to save it as DV-AVI onto the PC
hard-disk. I will then use Sonic to burn a DVD. When it starts the
formatting it takes >4 hours to tell me it has been unsucessful. It is not
storage space, any thoughts?

Additionally, whenever I open the project in Movie Maker it checks the file
which takes in excess of 30 mins.

Any help gratefully received

Sorry, I'm confused. You have completed the Save as DV-AVI file or not?

Formatting?????? Do you mean Encoding?

How long is this project .... in minutes?

No I haven't managed to get it to create the DV-AVI file. I have managed to
get it to produce a Windows Media file output, but whenever I try to get it
to produce the DV-AVI it takes hours to tell me it has failed.

Sorry, yes I guess I mean encoding.

The file itself is 36 minutes long, made up of photos increased in
resolution in Powerpoint then saved as JPEGs then imported into Movie Maker.
I have also added a music soundtrack to the project as well.

First things to try are general housekeeping..... run a disk cleanup and
defrag prior to the save. Ensure you have plenty of drive space... and that
it is formatted in the NTFS system. At 35 minutes, you're looking at about
6gb in size, which you cannot create if your drive is still in FAT32 format.

Definitely NTFS and have been through the house keeping for CCAPP (Symantec)
problems. Any other thoughts, perhaps I don't have the right codecs or
something?
