Can't Save Contacts

In addition to the situation I posted on September 12, 2008, shown below,
when trying to save a new contact, I receive the error message "The operation
failed." Thanks.

Prior question:

I am unable to open emails except when I reply, forward or print preview it.
(This is the same issues as reported by Andy, shown below). The email looks
normal when received, and when I choose to view by "AutoPreview", a portion
of the message is displayed.

I disabled McAfee Site Advisor and McAfee email scanner, and deleted and
recreated my profile, but still cannot view emails.

Some background: I had been using Office 2002; Two days ago, I began
downloading SP3 for Windows and cancelled midway because it would take too
long. The problem with opening emails seemed to happen after that, so I went
back and installed SP3 for Windows; still couldn't open emails so I installed
Office 2003 and all updates, including SP3 for Office 2003. Still
can't view emails.

I am able to view emails that I get from the system administrator reporting
that an email was undeliverable.

I'm at my wits end. I hope you can help

Start by running an Outlook, Detect/Repair from the help menu.
Then search for and locate scanpst.exe, the inbox repair tool (a hidden
file)
Run that against your outlook data file - presumably outlook.pst, also a
hidden file.
Lastly what is the size of the data file?

Thanks for responding. I ran the Detect/Repair program and scanpst.exe
against outlook.pst. No luck. the pst file is 190,505 kb.

Try starting outlook using the safe switch;
Run
type:- outlook.exe /safe
see if that helps

I tried this but it won't execute. I tried entering the whole path, but
outlook won't open with the "/safe" word. It reports that "Windows cannot
find the file..."

theres a space between, exe /

The whole path would be (assuming installed to C)
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office11\Outlook.exe " /safe

note again the space before the /

Thanks so much. Although, opening it in safe mode didn't solve the problem.
'Tis a puzzle. Bev
