After inserting an mpeg movie into PP, it shutsdown PP everytime I try to run
it. I do not have the same problem when the movie is Windows Video Media
file. Is there a way to fix this problem?

This sounds like a video card driver or DirectX issue. I advise upgrading
both to the most recent versions for your machine.
