We have run into a problem where games we run on XP home run fine, but won't
run on XP Pro. Can I just go purchase a new xp home upgrade and "upgrade" the
Pro machine and solve the problem. My sons are really unhappy with this
machine and I don't want the games on my machine.

No, you cannot "upgrade" XP Pro to XP Home.
Games should play equally as well on either system.

You need to inform us of the specific issues you
are having with games running on XP Pro in order
to offer some troubleshooting suggestions. Perhaps
you are having some sort of hardware or driver issue
related to the video adapter.

Xp home can upg to Xp pro not vice versa

try the program access and compatibility wizard
or try right click on the program itself (not the start menu or desktop
icon), and
select properties
select the compatibility tab and try out some setting there

Maybe your game requires admin permissions and you are logging in under a
non-admin account in Windows XP Pro.
