Hi there need help on why i cant rename any files on my XP Home,
I go and Right click the file and press rename, type what i what to rename
it with, then enter or off click, I Get a Box saying Rename ("if you change a
file name extension, the file may become unusable, Are you sure you want to
change it?").

I was able to rename a few days or months ago.
Any Ideas?
Thanx

Hi,

Probably the problem here is best solved by turning on file extensions so
you can see them.

In Windows Explorer, go to Tools / Folder Options... / Click on the View
(tab) & UNcheck the box "Hide extensions for known file types".

At least now you can see what is going on.
Hope that helps.

The message is just a warning. If you know what you are doing in renaming
the file, ignore the warning message. Why do you say you "can't rename
files" ? I get the very same warning all the time. The file naming
conventions make it easier for application programs to work. If you break
something you can always rename it back to the original name.
