A good start would be to change the document defaults.
1. On the Home tab, in the Styles group, click the dialog launcher (small
arrow in the bottom right corner) to open the Styles pane.
2. In the Styles pane, click Manage Styles (third button from the left in
the bottom left corner).
3. In the Manage Styles dialog, select the Set Defaults tab.
4. Choose Times New Roman and the desired default size, plus any desired
paragraph defaults, select the radio button for "New documents based on this
template," and click OK.
