I installed dender on my xp home machine w/ AMD 64 processer and it started
to give off lots of error messages. I tried to re-install the program and it
says the system administrator has set policies to prevent this installation,
so I tried to then remove the program. When I did this the removal program
froze after it started. I went back later and the removal option is no
longer there! I don't think I have a virus causing this as the computer was
running fine before I downloaded defender, and Norton 06 was loaded with all
the latest virus definitions! Now the computer is slow and doggy. The only
other thing I did was install the evaluation version of SQL server for my
relational database class, and have since removed it in order to get my
computer running smoothly again! Any body have any ideas how to get defender
off my computer?

Try this ... show hidden files, folders, and system files :
http://www.xtra.co.nz/help/0,,4155-1916458,00.html

Navigate to the WINDOWS\Installer folder and look for 1328c010.msi
Right click it, choose Uninstall.
Did that uninstall WD ?

No, this did not do the trick, found the windows installer directory, but
the file that you said to look for was no present

YOU MIGHT HAVE TO GO IN THE REGISTRY AS A LAST RESORT TO SEE IF ANYTHING IS
IN THERE. ALSO, THE "WINDOWS" FILES. THERE MUST BE SOMETHING IN THERE!

You ran the cleanup tool and chose to remove the installation entries
for WD, correct ? Now try installing it again to the same location that
it was installed to previously. This time, temporarily disable the
installed antivirus' real time protection prior to installing WD.
