you may need to turn
off your antiviral and
firewalls;

as they can inhibit the
installation.

however, if you still
have sp2 on the disk
but not functional,

then you might want
to do a repair installation.

another alternative is to
install virtual pc in vista,

then install sp2 in virtual
pc.

otherwise, you may have
to wipe vista off the disk
to reinstall xp because
you are essentially trying
to "down grade" your
system.

afterwards, install the
vista as an upgrade onto
a separate partition or
disk and it will build a
dual boot menu.

Ok, it's clear by the 2 responses I got that I may not have been clear...

1) I am not trying to install XP in ANY form, nor do I want to.

2) I am trying to re-apply//re-install Vista's SP2 to my system

3) When trying to re-apply//re-install Vista's SP2 I get a message saying its already installed.. I'm asking how do I get around that!

oh yeah,
I forgot that there was
an sp2 for vista.

not sure how to uninstall.

I suppose I would try
to find the update in
programs an uninstall
it or

try a system restore.

sorry about the confusion.

between xp, vista and
win7 its hard to figure
out which way is up.

perhaps, if you are
going to go through
the trouble of uninstalling
vista as one poster
suggested,

you might want to install
win7.

Hi,

There is no RTM of SP2 yet.

In any case, it's not possible to reinstall any service pack without
uninstalling the original installation of it.
