Can't Reinstall Activesync after PCMove Use

I recently bought a Dell C521 computer running Vista. Along with that I also
received from Dell a program called PCMove which allowed me to transfer all
of my system settings and application software from my XP based laptop to
the new Vista based machine. The process went quite smoothly for the most
part..

One area that has not worked is in syncing my Dell Axim X30 PDA to the new
computer. Apparently the version of Microsoft Active Sync that worked on XP
and that came across during the move operation does not work on Vista. The
system balks and tells me I have to download a newer version from the Mobile
Center site but when I do the installation never completes and I end up with
the old version. Vista will not allow me to uninstall the old version or
install a newer version. Vista rejects any attempt to alter the situation.
I am between a rock and a hard place. I can’t back up and I can’t go
forward. Help…
