HELP PLEASE! ... this is getting REALLY frustrating.
OS = XP SP2
I have checked the following dlls:
regsvr32 urlmon.dll
" shdocvw.dll
" msjava.dll
" actxprxy.dll
" mshtml.dll
" browseui.dll
" shell32.dll
I have uninstalled/reinstalled both IE6 and OE6
I've restarted my computer - repeatedly
I'm still having the same problem(s):
(1) When I try to log in at ebay, I get the message: If you are seeing this
page, your browser settings prevent you from automatically redirecting to a
new URL.
NONE of the links on that page will work.
(2) MOST of the links on OTHER webpages won't work either. I have to click
into the address bar, then hover over the link to get the address and enter
it myself. I had to do that to get to THIS page (*grrrr*)
(3) Other sites that I go to give me the message that I need: Javascripting
enabled (it IS enabled, I have checked THAT repeatedly)
(4) In OE, the links included in emails won't do anything
Please give step-by-step instructions for fixing this - and please keep it
simple, I'm NOT a computer guru, but I can follow directions
THANKS in advance - this is driving me insane!
rube

Update/reinstall your scripting engines from here:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/de...ist/webdev.asp

If still no joy, go to File Types (My Computer...Tools...Folder
Options...File Types tab)
Scroll down to the URL: Hypertext Transfer Protocol file type, click to
highlight, click Edit, click Open, click Edit (slightly different with Me -
click to highlight, click Advanced, click Open, click Edit).

Application used: "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" -nohome
Use DDE box should be checked
DDE Message: "%1",,-1,0,,,,
Application: IExplore
DDE...not running: <blank>
Topic: WWW_OpenURL

Okay out.
Check same with the URL:Hypertext Transfer protocol with Privacy file type.

Or try this article:

You Cannot Open New Internet Explorer Window or Nothing Happens After You
Click a Link
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;281679

NONE of that worked to fix the problem - and the FIX on the More Information
link really messed things up - now my email won't work AT ALL! It won't let
me log in. I can open the OE, then when it wants my password, I enter THAT,
and it pops back up wanting it again, and again....so I have to "cancel" the
login, just to be able to CLOSE the foolish thing!
- so I'm really in a world of hurt ... guess I'll have to keep checking
back to THIS page to see there is anything ELSE I can try ....
updating the scripting engines did not work
I went to the file type area - the Internet Explorer file says
C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe -nohome %1 ... and NOTHING I
can do will remove that %1
same thing with the Hypertext Transfer
the link to the help page for "you cannot open new internet explorer window
- well, was a little LESS than helpful - the HKLM values were there - and
correct - I went through all the motions of checking the .dll's - they were
all successful.

jeez, it's a screaming nuisance to try to even GET to this help page - I
have to go forward and back - get error messages saying that I have to have
java to view the page - but then if I click "back" and then "go" again, it
will load the page
