can't record through sound card

Can someone help? I am trying to use CD Creator Platinum -
Soundstream to record from my tape deck through the
soundcard. I can't get the meters to signify a signal
coming through the sound card. According to Roxio,
Windows 2000 sometimes has problems with this.

Has anyone experienced this problem and if so, how did oyu
correct it??

Any answers would be appreciated.
