I am not sure if this is the same question as below.

My wife is using Outlook 2003 with Win XP SP3

and she has started to get the following message

Task 'mail.btinternet.com - Receiving' reported error (0x800CCC90) : 'Your
incoming (POP3) e-mail server has reported an internal error. If you continue
to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet
service provider (ISP). The server responded: -ERR problem retrieving
message.'

I checked all the settings and even using the "test settings" it works fine
but she keeps gettign the error and cant download mail. So is having to do it
all from the web site

any suggestions?

if you an identify the message that may be causing the problem, delete it
online. If she's not leaving mail on the server it should be the oldest
message.

Otherwise, try a new profile or see if it works in another client (leave
mail on the server or export it to outlook after downloading0.
