can't receive files

Have a home network with a Netgear 314 router and port
forwarding setup, but I cannot receive files from outside
the network nor pass files within the network. Searched
Netgear and Microsoft knowledge bases and could not find
this problem discussed. Any help from anyone would be
appreciated. Thanks!! Jim
