I have reinstalled fax consol and I can'r get it to receive a fax. It worked
last football season but not anyomre.

Specs:

Win Xp Pro SP 3
HSP56 MR (VIA) fax modem
connected directly to wall jack. (phone pluged into same line works fine,
getting dial tone)

Only information I put in is name as "JBL"
I have it set up as manual receive. TSID and CSID are both set to "Fax"
Have faxes are set to save to a folder.

I only receive one fax a week and the person calls first. I let ring once
and hit "answer phone" button.
Get dialog box that phone was answered and receiving fax but it doesn't show
senders phone #.
After about 50 sec I get a message Saying: "An error occured while receiving
a fax"

In the event viewer properties box it says:

Date 9/18/2008
Source: Microsoft Fax
Time: 10:17
Category: inbound
type: error
Event ID: 32092
Computer AMD16

Description: The fax service failed to receive a fax. From. Caller ID. To:
fax Pages 0 Device name HSP56 MR (VIA)

FOr more information see help and Support Center at
go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

I sent a fax to my cell phone and got high pitched sounds. It sounds like
the send is working.

ANy help would be appreciated

Thanks

Joe

Did you get it to work? I have a similar problem. I can send FAXes,
but I cannot receive. I also run WinXP Pro/SP3. The modem is a
U.S. Robotics 56K Voice INT PnP modem. It can send on line 2,
and my MFC printer/fax on line 1 can receive it. But when I try to
send from my MFC printer/fax on line 1, line 2 (the recipient line) rings
and I click the receive button in the FAX Console and I can hear signal
tones on the line 2, but it's like the modem can't hear anything. Are
there separate drivers for send and receive?

I went into the list of services
(Start | Settings | Control Panel | Administrative Tools | Services) and
started up the Telephony service. Now I can receive FAXes through
my WinXP Pro FAX Console.
