I have Vista and have had no problems receiving mail for six months. However,
Dec. 31 is the last day I received any e-mail. Nothing has changed(that I am
aware of). According to theDell tech I spoke with, my server info is
accurate. Could someone please advise me as to what other info needs
checking? Thanks

Like they said to everyone. Post the error message. The MS MVPs will come to
help. I am NOT one of them.

Dell does not know about mail server settings.
Do you get an error message when you try to receive? If so,
right-click on your error message, copy, then paste it into a reply here.
We can't do much troubleshooting without the complete error message.

If no error message, can you access the missing mail on your provider's
webmail portal? Who is your mail provider?

This is the error message I receive when I uncheck the Logon password
authorization box. When I check the box, I do not get the error message, but
I still do not receive my mail.

Account: 'djgardner7', Server: 'fpostoffice.isp.att.net', Protocol: POP3,
Server Response: '-ERR authorization not enabled', Port: 995, Secure(SSL):
Yes, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC18

Your settings are correct, except:
Make sure you have send authentication enabled.
Go to Tools, Accounts, select that account, Properties, Servers.
The box for "My server requires authentication" must be checked.

There is one other setting that could be the culprit:
Go to Tools, Accounts, select that mail account, Properties, Servers.
Uncheck the box for "Log on using Secure Password Authentication."

Thank you for your replies Gary!
When I uncheck the log on auth. I get a message the task has been completed
successfully, but still no e-mails in my windows box. The connection on this
message states Local area network. Does this mean anything?

So there no longer is any error message?
What happens when you send a message to yourself? Does it arrive
in your Inbox?
Can you check via webmail to see if any messages are waiting to
be downloaded? I think you can get there by going in your browser
to http://webmail.att.net .
