Sigh - uninstall McAfee, then reinstall and select NOT to install that useless and troublesome email scanning engine. You are already protected by real time scanning when you open an email.
Better yet, dump McAfee altogether.

After furious head scratching, Tiredofit asked:
| I just updated McAfee and can no longer receive emails in MS Outlook
| 2003. I had no problem until installing the updates. I uninstalled
| McAfee and the problem went away. Re-installed it and having the
| problem again. I have received 2 different messages, which follow:
|
| Receiving' reported error (0x800CCC0F) : 'The connection to the
| server was interrupted. If this problem continues, contact your
| server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).'
|
| Receiving' reported error (0x8004210E) : 'Your mailbox is temporarily
| unavailable because another e-mail message is being delivered to it or
| another mail application is accessing it. The server responded: -ERR
| [IN-USE] account busy (locked by another POP3 process)'
|
| Can anyone offer any suggestions to resolve this?
