Can't read protected CD

I have an original CD which contains an application
protected from copying. The technique used for protection
is called Safedisc (C-Dilla). Basically it puts some bad
blocks on the CD and the program checks if they are there.
If not, the program does not run, as copied CDs normally
would not carry the bad blocks.
The problem I am facing is that even though I am using the
original CD, my computer starts reading it, and then just
stops, as if the application had ended. I don't get an
error message from the application or from the OS, but I
can see on the event log the message "The device,
\Device\CdRom0, has a bad block."
I am running on an IBM T23 laptop, with Windows2000 SP4,
and tried different internal and external CD Drives with
the same result. Interesting enough, the software ran
without any problems in other computers, what makes me
believe there is some settings in mine that are preventing
it from working. Are there any timeout settings or error
recovery settings I could play with to prevent the
computer from giving up?
Thank you for any ideas.

You need to speak with the vendor of the software.
