hi,

My previous configuration was Win2k OS on my drive C:
(40gig) and i had a 80 gig HD on drive D:

The two drives were NTFS format and working properly. My
drive D: had 60gigs of files out of 80. Now, i had to
reformat my C: drive and install windows XP. After the
install, I could find my drive D: but it had no
infomation about it. The only thing that said on the
stats was "raw" and i coudlnt access the drive. Everytime
i try, xp would say " access denied " error.

Is there any way i can retrieve my files with xp or any
other way to recover it with a different method?

Vu_

thx for your help

VU, i did almost the same thing. I ended up move my d: which was 200gig c: and install XP. first I transfed all my files to the origanl C: for safe keeping. When i got the system up and went to my D: which use to be C: i got the same thing as you. What you need to do is go to the DOS prompt and run Chkdsk with the /f function. This will repair all the files. Note the on my 40 gig drive with about 20 gig of files it took a long time to repair. Sometimes it will appear that the computer locked up but it doesnt. Go do something while its repairing so you don't get the urge to reboot. Good Luck
