I had made a video tutorial to put on my website and the file extensions that are made are either .wav or .mswmm. My website only accepts .avi .mov or mpeg . Is there a way to change the file extension or choose it before it gets saved?
I tried to have it put on the web so people coming to my website can access it through a link, but it keeps telling me that they are not available somehow. Any suggestions?
Does NVIDIA have anything to do with the Windows Movie Maker? I don't know where that came from.

Nvidia will be the make of graphics card and will be used
to play the movie.
Can you not use WMV files on your web site? Most will and
this will playback in media player.
You can download windows encoder 9 from M/S site and use
this to encode the movie, depending on which version of
media player your viewers have you can alter teh settings
to be backwards compatible with player v7, but of course
the quality drops. If you use V9 typew files then put a
link to M/S page for downloading WMP9.
avi's will probably be to big. .mov will be made with
quicktime and will need a q/time player to view. You
could make mpeg, but it may be harder to view, I'd check
on the availability of WMV.

Hi there,

Take a look at www.the-kellys.org and the video section.....pick one of the
movies (There are widescreen and standars screen) right click anywhere near
the outside of the video and select View Source....you will see how I have
done it. In addition, you can use ASF or WMV files...you might want to
download the Windows Media Encoder to create files in the ASF format...if
you need further help let me know.

I have just re-read your question....

WAV is an audio file format and the other is the project file. Neither of
these are actual videos.

Once you have your video organised in Movie Maker select File > Save Movie
File and then choose the quality you want the video to be. There are
several options available. What I do is create a full quality DV-AVI file
(this can take huge amounts of space) and then using the Windows Media
Encoder previously mentioned I reduce the file to a small ASF
format....then I send that to my website.

I am sorry. I meant .wmv NOT .wav...sorry about that. I went to your site and I did what you said and saw HTML. I am very very weak in that. Tripod's easy to do website has spoiled me greatly. I did a few lessons from HTML Goodies (which btw is a great site if you have patience, and it looks as though they have some great stuff that is wayyyyyyyyy over my head) lol, but quit when I couldn't figure out how to put a picture onto my website with HTML. SOOOOOOOOOOO.....looking at the HTML doesn't help me. Will I have to know HTML for the encoder?

Hi there,

I am guessing that the Tripod websites are those where you have options
within a framework that they set for you. If so, then I expect you will not
have to learn any HTML. Actually I know very little HTML, I use a program
called NAMO to do it all for me. You do not need to know anything about
HTML when using the encoder from microsoft.

John, That is right about my Tripod website. I will check to see if I have the encoder already. If not, I will download. Thanks for telling me about NAMO. I will look into that, too. If for some reason the encoder doesn't work out for me, I will let you know so you may direct me to where I may be able to put my video tutorial on the web. That way I could link the people to it.
