Can't publish graphics

Hi--I haven't worked on my site in long time and when I've just gone back to
add a few new images I am not being able to get my graphics to show up on the
web page (just shows those little white boxes with x through them where the
pix are supposed to be). I think this is because when I publish the new page,
I also need to publish the folder where the new images files are? The trouble
is, I have no problem republishing the new page itself, but when I try to
publish any of the images, the connection hangs and eventually times out with
an error message: "Server unexpectedly closed connection". These graphics are
really small--all under 300kb, and even when I try to publish one under
100kb, it hangs.
Does anybody have any thoughts on what might be going on? Any thoughts for
fixes?
Any help is much appreciated.
best,
Debbie

1. Have you imported the image into your current open web / site prior to inserting them on your
page?

2. Are the files named with lowercase and no spaces, etc. in the filename?

3. Are you using File Menu | Publish Web / Site to upload the changes to the live/remote server?

If yes to all 3 of the above questions, then provide a link to the page with this issue.

If you feel your current issue is a results of installing
a Service Pack or security update, please contact
Microsoft Product Support Services:

If the problem can be shown to have been caused by a
security update, then there is usually no charge for the call.

I guess I'm not sure what you mean by "import". I have inserted new images
into my web page through the insert / picture / from file command, same as I
have inserted every picture in my entire web site up til now without a
problem. But no, I did not use the import command under the File menu if that
is what you are referring to.

The answer to the other two questions is yes.

Here's a link to the page:

Thanks so much for your continued help.

p.s. I just did import the folder with the new images into my web site, then
publish again. Same problem occurs--the page publishes just fine, but the
images don't show up and when I try to publish them--either separately or as
a group--my connection hangs and hangs.

With your web open, use File | Import and select the image(s) from your hard
drive, into a folder, such as the images folder.

Then, go to your page(s) and Insert | Picture | From File (choosing the
images from the folder you imported them into). Then, save the page(s) and
publish to your remote server.

Show us the page!!
By the way images as large as 100kb to 300kb are really quite large for use
on internet pages. Have you sized and optimized them carefully?

The page is at: http://www.herterstudio.com/joy_is_a_plum.htm

This morning I reimported the file with the image and re-inserted the
images. Published. Again, the page publishes without a problem, but with
missing images. When I try to publish either the folder with the images, or
the images separately, the connection hangs for quite a while. This morning
the error message I received (AFTER I had already successfuly published the
page): "Could not find a Web server at 'www.herterstudio.com' on port 80.
Please check to make sure that the Web server name is valid and your proxy
settings are set correctly. If you are sure that everything is correct, the
Web server may be temporarily out of service."

I can't understand what's going on. Any thoughts?

Well, for starters you still need to take spaces out of image names ...
represented by %20
src="Plum/The%20Happy%20Dance.jpg" or
<a href="What%20We%20Do.htm"
and ... don't use spaces for positioning:

Is Plum an image folder?
why is this page sooooo wide
http://www.herterstudio.com/home%20page%20frame.htm No one will scroll like
that!
Theres so much work to do.
