Hello - I've bought several of the new GN Netcom 9350 USB/telephony headsets
for use with several computers. The USB headset has installed with plug and
play drivers on all computers except one, which is the only one running XP
MCE. I don't know if the fact that it's MCE that's the problem, but here's
what's happening. On all other computers (all running XP Pro SP2), when I
plug in the headset, the system tray recognized "GN 9350" then "USB Composite
Device" then GN 9350 again and "USB Human Interface Device", and finally GN
9350 and "USB Audio Device" - all that is completely plug and play.
On my Dell XPS600 MCE computer, the system tray recognizes "GN 9350" but
then it brings up a dialog asking me if I want to check online for updated
drivers - then it asks if I want to install the driver automatically or
specify a location. No matter how I answer at this point, it can't find a
driver and can't install the hardware.
On my other computers where the headset installed correctly, I've checked
the hardware list to find what drivers these three USB "devices" are using
and all of the files are on the hard drive of the MCE computer in their
appropriate locations.
Any suggestions on what I might try to fix or further diagnose the problem?
Thanks!
Mitchell
