I Can't password protect any workbook in Excel 2000 -- there is no password
protection box on Tools>Options>General, even though (finally after 15 min of
searching) help directed me to some supposed box to check off. I've found
numerous problems with impossible "fixes" before, even after reinstalling the
program and accesssing the CD. Some limitation of the CD, program, or
incompatibility between the help for this version and the actual version.
What next?

The Tools menu you're looking for, will be found in the File/Save As dialog.
There you choose General Options.

Many thanks, moi. Did see that I was supposed to go thru Save As, but didn't
see the link anywhere there until you "enlightened" me.

Much appreciated......now if I could only get the rest of the help items to
be accessible with the stock CD I was supplied.......I know I'm not this dumb
every time.
