Hello,

I'm looking for help with 64 bit Vista. I just performed a complete backup
to a USB drive. I then downgraded my OS to 32 bit because I'm have problems
finding programs to work with the 64 bit version. I tried to restore the 50
GB backup and received a message saying the system can not open a .vhd file.

I looked, and sure enough, I had a .vhd file for my C drive and one for my D
drive. There are also some .xml files there too.

After trying unsuccessfully to restore this ,vhd file I decided to
re-install the 64 bit version. I am now back at 64 bit, but, it too can not
open the .vhd file it created.

How do it get my files back and downgrade to 32 bit?

Thank you in advance to all who reply.

Regards,
Bob

You must restore it on the correct architecture, if you created a backup on
Vista 64 bit, you restore it on Vista 64 bit. Its possible your backup has
somehow become corrupted or you are not using the right approach to restore
your data. Is this just a backup of files or a complete PC backup? You have
to use the Advanced Restore link located in 'Backup and Restore Center' >
under 'Restore files and folders from a backup.
