Hi Pam :-)
Try the following and see if it helps:
Safely Delete the Temporary Internet Files
http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/delcache.htm
or..print version
Close all instances of OE and IE
Control Panel | Internet Options | General tab
Click the "Delete Files" button
Also click on Delete all off line files
also..
If you have Zone Alarm Pro, check this. If not, ignore:
On the gateway machine, do the following.
Click Start->Run, type cmd and click ok.
Type ipconfig /all and press enter.
Find the connection you are using, and make note of all the DNS servers.
Type exit and press enter.
Double-click the ZA icon down by the clock.
Click firewall>Main, and click the advanced button.
Put the check in "this computer is an ICS/NAT gateway", and click ok.
Click firewall>Zones.
Add each DNS server to the trusted zone. To do this, do the following.
Click the add button, and then click IP address.
Click trusted, put in the IP address, enter a description, and click ok.
When finished adding all addresses, click the apply button.
Next, click program control -> programs. Locate Generic Host Processing.
Under the server column, for trusted, change that to a check.
Don't change server internet to a check, just server trusted.
Please note that this will likely NOT work if you are using the free version
of ZoneAlarm. Support for ICS is one of the perks of going to the Pro/pay
version according to their web site. Older versions I believe will do it for
the freeware versions. If that's your situation I'd Google it and try to
find an older version somewhere.
If sitll no joy, then do the following:
Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Browsing
Uncheck the Enable 3rd party browser extensions
If this clears your problem then find out who the culprit(s) is/are with
these tools.
Dealing with Unwanted Spyware and Parasites:
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm
You will need to access this information from another computer and download
the necessary programs tools to clean your system
You can also try this:
Be sure you are in Administartor of the computer so your account is not
locked down.
Go to Tools>Internet Options>Security>Custom level>scroll down to Download
section and check the File Download box.
Then go to the Advanced tab>press the "Restore Default" button.
And in Tools>Advanced tab>Security and uncheck "Do not save encrypted pages
to
disk"
Hope this helps :-)
Jan
