When I'm in IE6 and I click on a link which is meant to open a new window,
the window opens but thats all that happens, just sits there with empty
frame and busy hour glass. Only happened in last few days, obviously
something I've loaded - could it be Ad Watch??. Running XP.

Can anybody help??

Tried the regsvr32 urlmon.dll but no change.

Temporarily turn off any ad-blocker, anti-virus, and firewall. If one of
these programs is the cause of the settings, lower the security settings.

Thanks, tried that with no success. Might try and re-install IE6. Just
running sfc /scannow to see if this picks up anything.

I have the exact same problem (I think). It started after
installing ZoneAlarm. I uninstalled it and it is still
doing it. I've tried several things such as:

- Reducing Security Levels to a minimum
- Reinstalling Internet Explorer
- Trying what is suggested in this article:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-
us;Q281679&sd=tech
- Resinstalling Windows 98
- Running IEfix
- Running CWShredder (which found several infected files
on my PC)

... but the problem is still there. In my case, the new
window that sits there and do nothing is transparent but
all the functionality works which mean that I can paste a
link into the address field, press enter then it works.
It seems like the URL is not being passed to the new
windows and then the window is just waiting for that URL
to arrive ...
