Good morning,
I have recently migrated the last of our netware 5.1 servers to win2003 r2.
I'm running into a problem with one shared folder--my users can't open any
of the files in that shared folder. They get a read-only error, click on OK,
then the file disappears. Though this is wide open, the structure looks like
this:
--- Apps (shared--Full Control: Everyone; NTFS Full Control: Everyone)
--Lotusers (also shared--Full Control: Everyone; NTFS Full Control:
Everyone)
--Shared (NTFS Full Control: Everyone)
Having no problems with the other files--all copied over the same way, from
server to my desktop and back to the server after the OS was installed. I
realize the security implications with the above permissions...I'm going to
tighten that down after I get the problem resolved. I do have a copy, so I
can 'experiment' with the copy that's on the server. Even as the
administrator, I can't open the files. One more thing, they were able to
access these files yesterday (the migration took place on Wednesday eve) and
nothing that I know of has changed since yesterday.
As an aside, is there a tool that I can use to scan and report on all shared
folder & ntfs permissions?
