Hi
I have a PC and laptop, both running Windows XP. They both link to the
Internet via a Bt Voyager Router. I have given permission to share files from
PC to laptop, and I can see them on the laptop. Strangely I can use the
printer remotely, but if I try to click on a shared file I get told I either
don't have permission, or sometimes it also says there is not enough room on
the server. I have turned the firewalls off. What have I missed?

Add identical user accounts/passwords to both computers. Make sure they
are in the same Workgroup (for ease of use). Don't turn your firewalls
off; just add the lan IP range in exceptions as trusted.

For the "not enough room on the server" message, the problem is
probably that an antivirus program has changed an obscure TCP/IP
setting. Please see this Microsoft Knowledge Base article for a
likely solution, specifying a value of 15 for IRPStackSize on the
"server" computer:
