Can't open contacts

I installed a new computer, and was trying to get my outlook pst to the new
computer. I did a export to a pst file, then an import of the pst file. I
have several clients using Exchange server and had was thinking of that
scenario. Well, I have since learned that was not the way to get the pst
file to the new computer.

Is there a solution for what I have done? Is there a way to get my contacts
to open?
