Use Outlook Express for newsgroups and you won't have the problem. And
you'll wonder why you ever put up with clunky web interfaces.

I've only visited the webnews-for-dummies interface for Microsoft (and
others, like Google) "communities" a couple of times. As I recall,
Microsoft's CDO webnews interface requires the use of popups, so try adding
the domain to the allow list for whatever popup blocker you are using, or
disable the popup blocker and see if the site then works okay.

Check the settings for the Internet security zone. Then reset it to the
default Medium level. See if the site then works. Could be you have a
feature disabled under the Internet security zone that the webnews interface
is trying to use.
