Sorry about being vague...
I have tried it in safe mode; doesn't work...

It was Computer Associates (CA) Security Suite which has anti-virus,
anti-spam, spyware, firewall. I have used this program for about 5 yrs for
both of our PCs & it has done a great job.

It isn't a "blue screen"; I meant at the beginning when it asked if you want
to hit F2 or F12 for Boot or Setup....

When I tried to open IE, I got an "iedw.exe Application Error" msg which
states {The application has failed to intilize properly (0xc0000005). Click
OK to terminate the application}......when I do, another error msg pops up
which says {The instruction at "0x0146f890" referenced memory at
"0x0146f890"could not be read. Click OK to terminate the application.}

Have I ruined this PC?

Any help is much appreciated!

Thanks,
Mary
