When I try and move a message from the inbox to a subfolder I get a yellow
triangle and a message "Can't move items" Doesn't happen with all messages
but quite a few and cannot see common thread.

Can't find anything by Googling apart from reinstall Outlook or create new
profile. Happy to try this but prefer to understand what's happening first.
Anyone any ideas? Very grateful for anything

I have seen this happen when the item has already been moved. I also have dealt with it if I have disconnected from the network (cached mode) then reconnected to the server I will get this sort of thing. Most times I just need to close and reopen Outlook.

It may also depend on you Outlook responsiveness or any underlining issues which is why you are getting the suggestion on google to reinstall. Before doing that however make sure all updates are installed and see if doing a Detect and Repair helps

Best Regards

Francine

And if that doesn't work; empty your Deleted Items folder and try again.

HI Peter,

you get his message when the pst file is corrupt, close outlook,
use inbox repair tool, (open scanpst.exe, its on your computer) and repair
the pst file.

try to move after the repair is complete. If still you get the same msg,
then there is no way to do it. leave it in that pst.
Create a new pst and make it default and start using it before other emails
get corrupt.
