I have searched the newsgroups and have found that many others are
having this issue, but I was not able to find a suitable solution.
When I try to map to a dfs share using "net use z: \\abc.com\public".
We get:

System error 1351 has occurred.

Configuration information could not be read from the domain
controller, either because the machine is unavailable, or access has
been denied.

If I try the same command on a Windows 9x, NT, or 2000 computer it
works just fine. Any ideas?
