Can't make network setup disk because I have no floppy drive

I just bought a new computer and want to set up a home
network. My wireless network works fine for internet
access, but I can't share files or printers. I tried
using the network setup wizard on both computers, but
when I get to the part that asks me to make a setup disk,
I have a problem because my new computer doesn't have a
floppy drive (only a couple of CD drives). What do I do
now??? I can't find any online documentation that helps.

Also, my new computer has XP and my old computer has ME
(if that makes any difference).

Thanks

Use the XP CD to setup networking on the ME computer. It is under
additional tasks on the main menu.

Glen's suggestion should work, Frank.

Not all computers come with an XP CD these days. If yours didn't, you
can write the Network Setup Wizard to a CD-R and run it on the ME
computer. It's in this file:

C:\Windows\System32\Netsetup.exe

Thanks Steve and Glen, but the XP CD doesn't seem to get the job done. I used the set-up wizard and it still only shows one computer when I go into My Network (there should be two). On the XP equiped computer, it shows my wireless device working properly (which is correct since I have Internet access on both computers) but it shows a red slash through my LAN. Any other suggestions

Thanks

Without knowing more about your network setup, it's hard to say what's
wrong. Please give more information:

How is your network wired? What type of Internet connection do you
have, and how does it connect to each computer? What did you say when
the Wizard asked how your computers connect to the Internet? Which
computer appears in My Network Places, and which one doesn't?

I am not sure which computer appears in my network places since only one shows up - I think each computer shows it's own self - I'll have to check when I get home tonight.

You're welcome, Frank. Thanks for giving the details.

Run XP's Network Setup Wizard again on both computers and tell it that
they connect to the Internet through a residential gateway (router).
It will make all the right settings.

Steve

I figured out my problem! I had my network set up properly to begin with, the problem was I my firewall on my ME machine was blocking file and printer sharing. I turned off the firewall, and everything worked perfectly. Now all I have to do is figure out how to set up my firewall to work with the network

Thanks for your help

Frank
