I work in an office where IT always right. I can’t start or make an Access
project. I thing they didn’t install all of Access. When I try making a
project it asks for CD and go to MSDB. But it needs a sql server to start
with does it not.

I'm sure IT is happy you agree. <g>

Hon, the MSDE must be installed before you can create a project. If it's not
installed you'll be prompted to install it from CD. Ask IT to install it on
your computer.

I know that I need to install msdb, but I know if I install access normally
it installs this by itself. I did not set this computer up and I want to
know, if I install access again will in install the SQL server by it self.
Or do I have to install M S D B, before when I used access applications .
It just work without haping said anything up. I just went to the steps and
it worked just fine.

I don't believe the MSDE is installed by default. I believe you need to do a
custom install. Let IT do it.

Hon, I'm talking about the Microsoft Desktop Engine (MSDE), which is a
throttled version of SQL Server for use with ADPs. I don't know what M S D B
is. If the MSDE isn't already installed and SQL Server isn't on the network,
you won't be able to select a server for the ADP when you create it.

OK: i spell like sh_t what i need to find Out is how does MSDE. When I tried
nope and an application it will open and I need to know how all the SQL
server is to on the computer. This access install the SQL server when you
install access. Or does when no sex PC installed that SQL server. I'm
trying to find out why I can't start the application access without it giving
me in error that says MSDE is on the CD in that directory MSDE. where does
the SQL server install from access or X P. I thought it was version
specific. Please try to read to my bad spelling and help me with this
problem so I can start applications in access. Thank you Rod

note you should use the MSDE that is available for download at the SQL
Server 2000 _SP4_ location.

some other installs; especially the versions from the 2000 / 2002
office CD might have 'security concerns'
