cant login to HTTPS websites (e.g. Hotmail ) via proxy server

I was accessing internet via proxy server using IE5.0
browser.
At that I was able to login to hotmail site, now that I
have upgraded my IE to IE6.0 I am not able to login to
hotmail , the login screen comes and after entering submit
utton the browser keeps finding pages for longer time.

All the other settings are same like my Operating system,
proxy server configuration.Can anyone help me in solving
this problem so that I can access the websites which use
HTTPS (secure socket layer protocol)
