I received an email requesting I go online and complete a survey. I did so,
and due to having to stop what I was doing, I clicked on File and then
clicked on Save file and requested it save what I had completed of the
survey. When I went back and tried to find it, or access it, I was unable to
do so. I seem to be missing something as to how the computer works. Any
suggestions?

Hi, William.

This happens often. (Yes, to me, too, sometimes.) It's usually because we
specify to Save or Save As, but don't bother to look at the screen that
tells us WHERE the file will be saved BEFORE clicking OK. :>(

Often, the easiest and best way is to simply start to Save the file again
from the same starting point. This time, note the intended destination.
Then either go ahead and Save it again, or abort the new Save, then use
Windows Explorer or another tool of your choice to look at that location for
your original Saved file.

Some Windows commands and applications that save files allow us to set a
default location for that particular app. But most, by default, will use
the MRU (Most Recently Used) destination when it is time to Save another
file. So all we have to do then is start to Save another file - and note
the proposed location.

But your online survey might not have used this default, or it may be hard
or impossible to retrace your steps up to the point of saving. :>( Can you
contact the sender of that email? Perhaps your partially-completed survey
is on THEIR computer, not on yours.

Do you remember any of the text of the survey? Perhaps a Search function
can find that text in some file on your hard disk. Many search options
exist; some are effective, some not so good. If you need further help, post
back and someone should be able to guide you.

It sounds to me like you were filling out a form on a website.
If so, it has nothing to do with your email program.
If the web survey has a 'pause and save' function, it will tell you so at the beginning.
Most web forms don't accommodate saving partial results.
