When ever we log onto our desktop and error message that says 'can't load
..dll' appears. What does that mean and how do I fix it? I'm not really
comp. savy so please bear with me.

First thing to do is to remove the viruses and spyware from your computer.
That will probably solve your problem.

We had a bad virus and had to wipe our comp. out. That has been coming up
ever since the person 'fixed' it for us. I scan my comp. with my virus
program all the time and still no help. Any other suggestion.........Thanks
for the response though.

Well, instead of making us guess WHICH .dll file you are talking about or
having to make vague replies based on an undetailed post, why not tell *us*
which DLL is reported in the message?

Does the message appear when you boot into Windows' safe mode?

I don't know wich dll is missing, heres what happens- We log on and this
little box pops up that says Error and inside the little box says 'I can't
load dll' and u can hit the x or OK and it goes away. I dosen't say a
specific one. I have no idea why it comes up and the only time it does is
right when we each log on to our desktops. If there is any other info you
need I'll be happy to tell I'm just not sure what info you need. We run
windows xp home edition and have high speed cable internet.

Repeat: Does the problem still occur when you boot into Safe Mode for
Windows?

In normal boot mode, use msconfig.exe to disable all startup programs. If
the problem goes away, you are loading something on Windows boot that is
causing the problem. Disable all in msconfig, reboot, and test if the
problem exists. If not, use msconfig to enable one startup item, reboot,
and test again. Repeat until you enable the one that is causing the
problem, disable it, and repeat testing with the rest of the startup items
enabled one at a time to see any others also cause the problem.

Ok I typed msconfig.exe in run and a box popped up for less than a second and
then dissapeared and I tried again, same thing. I then serched for the file
and looked in all places including the hidden files and folders and came up
with nothing.
Now what do I do? By the way thank you for being patient with me and your
help, it is greatly appreciated. One more quest. could this be why my
InstallShield wizard isn't working? I get error code 1607.

A common trick of malware is to prevent loading of msconfig. Time to start
scanning your computer for viruses, trojans, worms, spyware, adware, and
other crapware. Some free tools for the job are:

Spybot Search & Destroy
Lavasoft Ad-Aware
Microsoft Defender
Prevx (their Prevx1 R is free)
EzAntivirus, if you don't have one (http://www.my-etrust.com/microsoft)
Several anti-virus vendor's sites have a free virus scan (uses ActiveX
control)
ewido
a-squared
SpywareBlaster
