Can't install XPe SP2

I'm trying to install XPe SP2 (i.e. a 3 disk set) on a PC on which I've
already installed the SP1 components (i.e. disks 1 & 2). When I try to
install the 'Tools Update', on the 3rd disk, the installation starts, but
then asks "Please insert the disk: Windows XP Embedded Service Pack 2, Disk
3" ...even though that's the disk already in the drive!
Clicking "OK" or re-inserting the disk doesn't restart the installation.
Yet, as a test, I have installed on another PC perfectly ok!
Any ideas anyone??
Regards,
Paul Towle

Paul,

Maybe you've got a broken 3rd disk?

I have a similar problem installing SP2.

The major components such as Target Designer will not complete the launch
process. The database manager and other components give the error message
that my computers database cannot be found or connected to. I cannot seem to
locate the correct files that are needed to complete the XP embedded
installation.

Jason,

Did you try suggestions from Troubleshooting section of the product docs?
E.g., http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/en...alDatabase.asp

This was indeed a ‘broken 3rd disk’ !
As I said before, I managed to install XPe on another machine … but not this
one (so, at first, I didn’t suspect the actual disk was at fault!)
To overcome, I shared another CD drive remotely over a network & installed
ok.
Have since procured another disk set via my XPe distributor.
Thanks,
Paul T.
