Originally my computer had win2k installed. One day when I boot it up, the
normal screens appear up to the point where the win2k appears.
Then the screen starts to blink and finally goes blank and dark, and I can
do nothing to bring it on but SWITCH OFF the computer (nothing appears on
the screen even restart). But the same thing happens again when I turned on
the computer ...
I had boot with safe mode, still same...

At last I boot it with win2k CD and format my CNTFS), while DFAT32) and
EFAT32) remain...
I tried to reinstall win2k again, but this time during the installation auto
reboot process when the win2k logo was about to appear...the screen goes
blank and dark and I must switch off the computer again.
Then I boot with winxp and format C: again and tried to install winxp....but
the same thing happened.

I scan the disk with hdd regenerator, no bad sector was found...
Is it caused by the power supply? motherboard? virus?

ps: my computer somtimes "self reboots" after running for a few
hours...somtimes even twenty minutes or so....

Please help!!
Many Thanks!!

Two posibilities... maybe...

Change video card (might have gone bad or is not supported)

Change memory chip (might be bad).

Agree with Frank. You have some bad hardware.

THANKS!!!!!

I have tried a program called MEMTEST to check the memory...but it seems too
complicated....
is there other more user-friendly software that can check memory chip?

My video card is onboard...how can I check if it is good or bad?

I'm not familiar with memory checking software... but there's a few out
there. Nothing beats a physical change though... if you can do it.

For the Video... you'll just have to find a plug in video card, install it
and try it. Almost any recent video card will do. I'm suspecting that one
"mode" of your video card has gone bad (very common to have one mode go bad
while the others continue to work). When Windows first boots, it changes the
mode of your video a couple of times. Sounds very possible that one of these
automatic changes of mode is not working on your video board.
