I have Window XP Pro installed on my machine. I am trying to install SQL Server 2000 Standard Edition but it tells me that it will only install client tools. And when I proceed I cannot access the local server to create databases.
Why is this happening?
Can any one help. I am very desperate.

Here are the kind of things I get when I try to connect to Local.

1. Local is not know to be running
2. A connection could not be established to local
3. Reason : SQL server does not exist or access denied.

Thanks

If you have the cd's you should install SQL server 2k Personal edition.
That cd comes with the standard edition and it will install on
NT4/W2K/XP but not the servers. The standard edition is for the server
types only.
