I have had similar problems with a somewhat older e-
machines PC. It uses SDRAM instead of DDR, but what I
had to do was install the new RAM with the old RAM (old
in the 1st slot), boot the PC, shut down, remove the old
RAM, boot, shutdown. If you want the old RAM in, too,
put it in at this time. This may not work for you, but
it did for me.
