Recently, I wanted to install access to a networked printer on my Daughter's
WinXP Home system, but when I tried to do so, clicking on the install
printer selection does NOTHING!
Access to the local printer is fine, although, when printing, there is no
printer icon in the system tray.
Is there an easy way to restore this function, or must I reinstall XP?

Hi,

Restart the system in Safe Mode (hit F8 at boot to select this), logon as
administrator. Add her account to permissions for this directory:

C:\Windows\system32\spool

To do this, right-click the folder and select properties, go to the Security
tab (this will not be visible in Normal mode). You want to use the add
function and give the account full control.
