It was a very simple command that simply updated some obscure security
database in Windows and it worked like a charm the first time. Here is

Hi, I had the same problem. I'm running Win XP (Pro) SP2. I fixed it
by enter the following command in the command prompt:
esentutl /p %windir%\security\Database\secedit.sdb
After that, installation of TCP/IP Version 6 worked fine.
Major kudos to this genius who came up with it, although the MS guys must be
well aware of it also.
Why it hasn't been put into the the Knowledge Base is a mystery to me...

Most home users don't need any of the Advanced Networking Components
installed, including the Peer-to-Peer Networking Component.
